We host one philanthropy event each semester to support Delta Gamma's Foundation, Service For Sight (which you can read up on here).
Our main event is ANCHOR SLAM® , which we revived on the W&M campus in Fall of 2014! It's a pick-up basketball game where teams of 3-5 people register, wear our t-shirt, and compete for a cause. We had 36 teams participate this year, and hope to have an even greater response in Fall of 2015.
(Two of our sisters took their roles as referees very seriously!)
Held right on campus in the William and Mary Rec Center, students from all over campus came out to cheer on their friends. We raised upwards of $2000, more than double what we've raised in past years! Next year, we plan to outdo ourselves again.
Each year has a theme. This year's was "Space Jam"... what will next year's be? Join DG, and you may get to help decide!
Unlike ANCHOR SLAM®, Delta Gamma's Spring Philanthropy event changes from year to year. The benefactor is always the same (our very own Foundation, Service for Sight, which you can read about here); however, we keep things fresh and surprise campus every year with a different approach to raising money!
This year we put on Sugar Shack, a huge bake sale right on the terrace outside Sadler Center. We sold homemade baked goods made by our talented sisters, including cupcakes, cookies, brownies, blondies, lemon squares, rice crispie treats... the list goes on!
The community was grateful for the treats, and we were grateful for the generous support of those who came out to buy our goodies and support our philanthropy.
Stay tuned for what our Spring Philanthropy 2016 will be!
